Liverpool Urban Hair and Fashion Awards

Before Christmas  I attended a little event on my own in a local Liverpool restaurant, I got chatting to lovely ladies and had a great night.

Fast forward a few months and I’m sat at the Liverpool Urban Hair and Fashion Awards. Random, I know. But it’s one of the many things that we chatted about that fateful night and that really caught my imagination.

It’s an event showcasing the best Liverpool has to offer in the hair and fashion game and even better it’s been done hand in hand with charitable organisation: Hair Heals. A non-profit charity that aims to support those going through Hair loss for whatever reason adn educate those around it.
So, on a blustery Sunday in March( the 4th to be exact), I headed down to Avenue HQ in the stunning Liverpool docks and got whisked away by an extravagant event filled afternoon.

I was invited to view an amazing exhibition of photography, showing the impact of alopecia and how it can be turned into a strength. The model of the exhibition was Channel 4's own Eve Betts (First dates) who has alopecia herself. The images were stark and showed great depth, I particularly liked the candid ones of Eve looking in a mirror. It felt so intimate and as if we were seeing the condition truly from the eyes of someone wtih it.
I got to see live performances from multiple different acts. We had talented singers, rappers and two different dance troups. The wealth of talent of amazing to see as well as supporting local stars(bonus) and companies.

We were treated to three different catwalks. I've never been to a fashion show before but it really was amazing watching the models appear, anticipating what the next piece might be! I really enjoyed this part of the show.

The event included stands from local company: Shimmers Hair Salon. A new clinic for people with Hair Loss, offering advice and services such as hair cuts, colouring and wigs.
The pinnacle of the evening was, of course, the awards ceremony itself. I was lucky enough to have front row seat so could see the joy of the finalists when they received their awards. They then got to have their pics taken with The Apprentice final Top 5 candidate Joanna Jarjue, and yes I did sneak a pic too!
Claire-top gal on the organisation front

The event was resounding success, not bad  for the first of its kind! The team at Liverpool Urban Hair and Fashion, lead by the amazing Claire. I can't wait to see how they plan to top this event next year!
